South Hook LNG calendar celebrates the Milford Haven Waterway

Thirteen schoolchildren from across Pembrokeshire have seen their artwork displayed in the 2016 calendar for South Hook LNG Terminal.

Attending a recent prize giving at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven, children from schools including Broad Haven, Portfield, Ysgol Solfach and Tavernspite successfully entered a competition, which aimed to celebrate the varied history of the Milford Haven Waterway.

Linking with Milford Haven Museum and the Port of Milford Haven, South Hook LNG invited local schools to learn about the role of the Waterway over the years. From whale oil and fishing to royal yachts and the role of the Waterway during times of war, the calendar depicts the changing face of the area through the ages.

As part of the competition, South Hook LNG invited participating schools to visit Milford Haven Museum, allowing children the opportunity to research the Waterway’s history through an interactive journey, before submitting their entries.

Mariam Dalziel, South Hook LNG’s PR Manager commented “We are pleased that so many schools took part in the competition, many of which also enjoyed the opportunity to visit Milford Museum and research the incredible history of this area. As well as the schools and all of the young artists who took part in the competition, we would like to thank the teams at Milford Museum and the Port of Milford Haven, all of whom have helped us in creating a colourful calendar that celebrates the Haven Waterway.”
