Former Haverfordwest High student Alisha Akhtar is the recipient of South Hook LNG’s 2024 Scholarship Award.
Currently in her final year at the University of Salford, Manchester, studying LLB Law, Alisha has a further two years of academic focus ahead of her, embarking on her Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), at the end of her current course.
With the aim of supporting local students to excel in their chosen field of study, the South Hook Scholarship is given to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement and long-term career goals. Along with a written application, the process also involves an informal interview and demonstrates South Hook’s ongoing commitment to supporting the educational development of local students.
Invited to receive her Award at South Hook in this New Year, Alisha from Haverfordwest, was presented with a certificate and £5000, which will contribute to student costs over the remainder of her studies.
“‘My late parents worked tirelessly to provide my siblings and me with opportunities they never had. I was taught from a young age that education is the key to success, something no one can take from me, a strong belief that drives me every day. I am determined to pursue a career in law, and this scholarship brings me closer to that goal.
“I am deeply grateful to South Hook LNG for their generous support—the belief in my potential means so much. This scholarship is not just for me, but a tribute to my parents’ sacrifices, and I will use it to honour their dreams and build a brighter future, carrying forward their legacy and the values they instilled in me” commented Alisha.
