  A Forward Looking Gulf State
Qatar is situated on the north-easterly coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Bordered to the south by Saudi Arabia, the rest of its land mass juts 160 km into the balmy waters of the Arabian Gulf. Qatar became an independent nation on September 3, 1971. Its commitment to learning, and the education of its population, is reflected in the ambitious 'Education City' project, that aims to provide a top flight centre of learning in a broad range of disciplines.

Qatar became an independent nation on September 3, 1971. The current Emir - H. H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani - came to power in 1995.

Arabic is the official language of Qatar, but English is also widely spoken.

The first signs of human habitation date from around 4,000 BC - rock carvings and pottery found by multinational archaeological expeditions corroborate this.

Ras Laffan
Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), covers 106 square kilometres, and is located 80 kilometres north east of Doha, Qatar's capital city. The city hosts an industrial port and a number of industrial facilities, along with high calibre services for businesses that include a medical centre, a fire and safety section, and an environment section.

Vision & Values
South Hook is a newly-formed company responsible for the development and operation of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal and regasification plant at Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, west Wales.

Archaeology
South Hook's facility is located at the mouth of Milford Haven. Throughout the centuries, this has been a strategic defensive site. Several military structures can be found around the area. The most important, and best preserved of these is South Hook Fort, which was built between 1859 and 1865. The fort consists of a horseshoe barrack-building set back from a seaward facing 20-gun battery.
